In bilico: Saint Léger du Ventoux

[ITA] L'Ascensione. Quale nome più azzeccato per una festa "comandata" da destinare all'arrampicata? Al di là delle affinità tra alpinismo e religione, qui su InBilico basta che vi spieghi che in tutta l'Europa Centrale questa festa vuol dire scuole ed uffici chiusi... Se poi cade anche di giovedì, allora l'occasione per un classico "ponte" è davvero ghiotta :-). Così non posso che accettare la proposta di Cyril che mi invita a trascorrere con lui 4 giorni in questo tempio falesistico del "Sud", nome con cui, qui al nord, chiamano tutto ciò che in pratica si trova a sud di Digione...
4 giorni magnifici in questa falesia immensa, in un angolo di Provenza meno "tipico" rispetto al Verdon, a Buoux o all'entroterra nizzardo, più aspro e rude ma al tempo stesso assolutamente affascinante. Saint Léger ha praticamente tutto quello che il manuale dell'arrampicata su calcare può offirre, e tutto di qualità TOP. Muri grigi, muri rossi, tacche, cannette, cannoni, strapiombi, grotte, inutile proseguire nell'elenco...non manca nulla.
Scegliendo bene l'orientamento ci si può scalare pressochè tutto l'anno, spostandosi in base all'orientamento del sole. Andateci, meglio se con un pizzico di forma...anche poca basta, ma un po' ci vuole...Uomo avvisato... ;)

[FRA] L'Ascension. Ce nom est vraiment deviné pour un jour férié à dédier à l'escalade! Au-delà des affinités entre alpinisme et religion, ici sur InBilico ça vous suffit de savoir que dans toute l'Europe Centrale ce jour la veut dire clôture des écoles et des bureaux... Et s'il tombe le jeudi alors ça veut dire un pont de 4 jours. Je suis pourtant oblige d'accepter la proposition de Cyril de visiter ce temple de l'escalade du Sud, dans un coin provençale peut être moins "stéréotypé" par rapport à Buoux, le Verdon ou aux arrières Pays Niçois, mais quand même charmant.
Ici on retrouve tous les ingrédients de l'escalade en calcaire et tous ces la à niveau qualité TOP. Murs gris sur gouttes d'eau, mur rouges sur réglettes, colonnette, cannelures, surplombs, gros surplombes, grottes,... Pas de besoin de continuer... Il y a tout, tout simplement.
En choisissant au mieux l'exposition on peut y grimper presque toute l'année, histoire de bien suivre le mouvement du soleil. Allez y donc, sans aucun hésitation, mais faites gaffe à y aller un minimum en forme... C'est exigent! ;)

[ENG] The Ascent. What a better name for a bank holiday dedicated to climbing? Going further the similarities between walls and religion, here on InBilico it is enough to say that in all Central Europe the Ascent day means schools and offices are closed. Furthermore, if it is on Thursday, it also means this is perfect for a 4 days long week end. Therefore I can't decline the invitation from Cyril to visit this climbing temple of the "Sud", which is how here in the North they call all what's under the city of Dijon... The spot is simply amazing, for sure less stereotyped than Buoux, the Verdon or the backcountry of Nice, but it is fascinating as well.
All the ingredients of limestone sport climbing are present, all of these at top quality levels: grey slabs, red crimped walls, tufas of any dimensions, overhanging walls and hugely overhanging caves, ... There is simply everything.
Rightly following the sun it is possible to climb here basically all around the year, just pay attention to go there a bit in form, C'est exigent ;)
